| GeoKinetics has access to a fully
equipped state-of-the-art soil mechanics laboratory at our Irvine
facility. Laboratory capabilities range from conventional procedures
to highly specialized research and development programs. The laboratory
is equipped to perform a full suite of soil and rock testing, including
the following:
- Index property tests, such as moisture content, density, specific
gravity, sieve analysis, hydrometer analysis, sand equivalent,
Atterberg limits, soil classification, and others.
- Compaction tests, California Bearing Ratio tests, and R-value
determinations.
- Constant and falling head permeability tests on samples up to
8-inches in Consolidation tests.
- Direct shear tests on samples up to 12 inches in diameter under
stress or displacement-controlled loading conditions, and
at displacement rates as low as 0.5 inches per month.
- Unconfined compression tests on samples up to 12 inches in diameter.
- Triaxial compression tests on samples up to 4 inches in diameter,
under isotropic or anisotropic stress conditions, with stress
or displacement controlled loading and capabilities for extremely
slow rates of loading.
- Specialized tests for research and development.
The laboratory is equipped with computer controlled testing and
data acquisition systems which permit the simulation of complex
loading or deformation patterns to suit individual project needs.
These systems also provide self-contained and automated data acquisition
capabilities for long-term testing and control. With this capability,
test data can be collected, stored, reduced, and plotted automatically,
thereby minimizing the potential for errors. Much of the hardware
and software for these systems has been developed in-house and is
continuously upgraded by GeoKinetics to maintain the company at
the leading edge of laboratory capabilities.
